Why choose us

Choosing a provider is a big call. Here's how we earn it.

Whether you're comparing providers for yourself, helping someone you love decide, or referring a participant — this page is the honest version of why people work with Northern Rivers Care Network, and what you can expect if you do.

What's different

Big-provider polish, small-team care

A team you'll actually know

Larger organisations rotate rosters; we build small, stable teams around each person. The same familiar workers, week after week — because good support is a relationship, not a transaction.

Answers without the runaround

When you call, you reach people who can actually make decisions. Fast responses and clear, proactive communication are the reputation we work hardest to keep.

Genuinely local

We're based in the Northern Rivers and support only this region — Ballina, Lennox Head, Byron Bay, Lismore and surrounds. Local knowledge shows up in everything from activity ideas to knowing the quickest way to your appointment.

Support shaped around you

Your goals, routines, culture and preferences shape the support — not a standard service template. You keep choice and control at every step, including who supports you.

What to expect

From first contact to ongoing support

A real conversation

You reach out; we respond quickly. A friendly, plain-English chat about what you're looking for — no pressure, no obligation.

Planning together

We meet you (and family or your coordinator, if you like) to understand goals, routines and preferences — and we're upfront about capacity and fit.

Matched workers

We introduce support workers matched to you. Not clicking? Say so once and we'll change it — no awkwardness, no fuss.

Support that keeps listening

Clear agreement, transparent pricing under the NDIS Pricing Arrangements, and regular check-ins — your feedback keeps shaping the support.

Safeguards

The boring stuff, done properly

Trust needs more than warm words. These are the protections behind every shift:

Fully insured team

Our team is fully insured, with the required NDIS screening and compliance checks completed.

NDIS Code of Conduct

We work to the Code in everything we do — safe, competent support that respects your rights, privacy and dignity.

Clear agreements & pricing

Plain-English service agreements and pricing in line with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits — agreed before support starts.

A complaints process with teeth

Raise anything with us directly, or go independent via the NDIS Commission on 1800 035 544 — both paths are explained here. Raising a concern never affects your support.

For support coordinators & professionals

Coordination the way it should be

You know the drill: referrals that vanish into voicemail, rosters that fall over, participants left waiting. We built our process to be the opposite.

Fast responses — including an honest "no capacity right now" when that's the truth, so you're never left guessing

Consistent, screened workers — stable rosters that prioritise the same familiar faces for your participant

Proactive communication — service agreements sorted promptly, changes flagged early, updates without chasing

Goal-aligned supports — mapped to the participant's plan from day one, billed per the NDIS Pricing Arrangements

Honest answers

Questions people actually ask

What does support cost?
Supports are billed in line with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. Before anything starts, we agree supports and pricing with you in a plain-English service agreement — so there are no surprises. If you'd like help understanding what your plan covers, just ask.
Who can use NRCN's services?
We support NDIS participants aged 9 and over whose plans are self-managed or plan-managed, right across the Northern Rivers. As an unregistered provider we can't invoice the NDIA directly, so we're not able to deliver funded supports under NDIA-managed (agency-managed) plans — but if that's your situation, get in touch anyway: we'll explain your options honestly and point you in the right direction.
Can I choose or change my support worker?
Yes, always. We match workers to your preferences, personality and goals — and if someone isn't the right fit, tell us once and we'll change it. Choice and control sit with you, not with our roster.
How quickly can support start?
It depends on your needs and our current capacity. What we promise is a fast response and an honest timeframe up front — not a promise we can't keep.
What if it's not working out?
Tell us — straight away, and as bluntly as you like. We'd rather fix a problem than lose your trust. You can also give feedback or make a complaint independently through the NDIS Commission (1800 035 544); raising a concern will never affect the quality of your support.
How is my personal information handled?
Carefully, and only for delivering your support — we don't sell it or use it for marketing without consent. Our privacy policy explains it in plain English. We'll also ask before any photo of you is ever taken or used.
Do you support families and carers too?
Yes — with clear communication and genuine involvement wherever the participant wants it. Many enquiries come from a parent, partner or nominee; we'll include the right people while keeping the participant's choices at the centre.

One conversation will tell you more than any website can. Reach out — it takes about a minute, and it doesn't commit you to anything.
