About NRCN

Support built from lived experience

Northern Rivers Care Network exists because its founder needed this kind of support long before he provided it. That story — told below — shapes how every shift is delivered: consistent people, safe relationships, and support that treats you as the expert on your own life.

We're not a national chain. We're a Northern Rivers team supporting Northern Rivers people — the person who answers the phone knows your name, and your workers know your community.

Rory Bruce-Allen, founder of Northern Rivers Care Network

The founder's story

Rory Bruce-Allen learned what support means the hard way — by needing it

A Northern Rivers local with deep roots in the region — through sport, education, employment and volunteering — Rory was diagnosed with ADHD and autism as a child. The difficulties that followed ran through family, friendships and school. By his teenage years, he had experienced homelessness, foster homes and boys' homes.

What carried him through wasn't luck. It was people: a handful of steady adults who showed up, kept showing up, and asked for nothing in return. Through the hardest years, they taught him something that would eventually become a business, though it would take decades to get there — a deep understanding of mental health, of community, and of what a safe relationship can do for a person who has known too few of them.

Safe, consistent relationships aren't a luxury in a hard life. They're the thing that changes it.

His working life proved the breadth of that resilience: successful roles in digital marketing, sales, high-risk security services and mobile plant operation. But the pull to give back — to be for someone else what those steady few had been for him — kept growing. It led him to work with children placed in the care of the state: young people walking a road he recognised, who needed exactly what he had once needed. A safe, consistent role model who wasn't going anywhere.

That work revealed a wider calling. Rory moved into disability support — supported independent living homes, in-home support, community access and connection, and capacity building as an employment coach, helping NDIS participants find meaningful work of their own.

Northern Rivers Care Network was never launched with a marketing plan. It grew organically, because people who knew Rory — personally or by reputation — kept reaching out about the people they hold dear. He worked six and seven-day weeks, back to back, and still the referrals came. The only way to honour that trust was to build a team worthy of it.

Today, NRCN is that team: driven, compassionate and friendly, working cohesively to deliver person-centred support to the participants in their care — led by someone who doesn't just understand the value of showing up for people. He's lived it.

How we work

Values you can actually see in a shift

Anyone can list values. Here's what ours look like in practice, week in and week out.

Person-centred, for real

Your goals set the agenda, your preferences shape the roster, and your feedback changes how we work. Support happens with you, never just to you.

Reliability as a habit

We turn up on time, communicate early if anything changes, and respond quickly when you need us. Trust is built shift by shift.

Straight talk

Plain-English agreements, pricing in line with the NDIS Pricing Arrangements, and honest answers — including "we're not the right fit" when it's true.

Safeguards first

A fully insured team that completes the required NDIS screening and compliance checks, working to the NDIS Code of Conduct in everything we do.

Consistent faces

We keep support teams small around each person, so you're supported by people who know you — your routines, your coffee order, your goals.

Proudly Northern Rivers

From Ballina to Lismore, Lennox Head to Byron Bay — we live here, we work here, and we're invested in this community doing well.

Your rights

Support you can hold us to

We work to the NDIS Code of Conduct. In practice, that means you can always expect us to:

Respect your right to make your own decisions — your choice and control come first

Deliver supports safely, competently and with care and skill

Act with honesty, integrity and transparency — in our pricing, our promises and our communication

Respect your privacy, dignity and culture

Take concerns seriously and act on them quickly

Something not right? We genuinely want to know — here's how to give feedback or make a complaint, including independent options.
